Sleep without a pillow

I posted up about six weeks ago about sleeping without a pillow. At the time it was something that I was just trying out to see how it goes, but I have to say – after the six weeks my neck feels like it used to as a kid!

It’s more flexible, I feel as though I sleep better, and my back in general feels great. No more minor pain here and there.. All just from ditching the pillow!

At first I did have to ask myself – “Is it good to sleep without a pillow?” however after doing some research, and applying common sense – I strongly believe that it is. How did we sleep before pillows?

The fact is that most pillows aren’t even designed to the contours of your neck. Babies aren’t given pillows when they are young so they develop a straight spine. Obviously as an adult ours aren’t developing as much as a child, but every little bit helps.

Give it a shot sometime – worst case scenario you don’t like it. All I know is my neck feels great at the moment!

I like to sleep on my side so I find that without a pillow it’s very uncomfortable (try it). On your front or back it’s fine without a pillow though.

I find I move around a lot during my sleep. It’s almost as though my subconscious is learning how to sleep on it’s side without a pillow. Usually it will involve me lying on my hands and using them to prop my head up.

Hi!!!! This was very interseting!!!! I have had nightmares (some nights more like terror dreams)my whole life, but I have excpeted that, because there is no mediction or treatment that has worked. Then 4 years ago I worked day and night, and was very very stressed and my nightmares got really really bad, and I started grinding my teeth. In 6 months I had ruined about 10 teeth, witch 2 was nothing left of except roots. I have constant neckpains sinse then, and can berly move my head. This night was the first I was sleeping without a pillow, and my neck was less stiff, and I can feel in my jaws that I have not been grinding that much. It seems to help :) And it makes more sense, children don’t use a pillow, way should we!!??? ( Now you wounder way I not wear a plastic protection thing in my mouth at night when I sleep!!! I have one, I have bit holes through it, and some nights I go up in my sleep and hide it :) , or thrown it out on the balcony, so I given up on that thing). I am not really in to blogs, but starting to learn, and have my own… but yours is great!!!! Love it!!!! Very interesting things :)
